January Over - Hurrah

I am so happy to see the back of January. It was a really tough month for me, being sick and Lily being very "grizzly" as I put it. And then lets just add a dog into the picture who wants lots of attention and lots of walks. I went a little insane for sure.

As we are into the second week of Feb. we are doing much better now. Lily's 1st yr molars are present and still pushing through and just the past couple days I have felt her eye teeth cutting through the gums. She is pretty good with it all except when she is exceptionally tired.

I am moving her to a new daycare on the 14th of Feb. I have so much anxiety over this. I love the daycare she is in as it is a small group of adorable children, and the 2 care providers offer so much love. I can't think about it too hard or I just end up crying. OK maybe I am just a bowl full of mush but I am not doing so well with this pending transition. I am sure Lily will be just fine (I keep telling myself).

The new daycare is just 1km from my home so I do not have to get the car out and we can have a great walk. Once I drop her off it is just a skip to the Go Train and then 9 min to the office. So the good part about this is that my travel time is cut by about 10-15 min each way and on the days I work from home I can bring the dog along for the walk. The other reason is that I actually qualify for daycare subsidy...and thank goodness as the daycare costs are astronomical that even a two salaried family could barely afford. So I really end up with all the benefits. It is a good daycare with just a few more kids than Lily is used to and they also have a toddler program she cam easily move into.

I hope I am doing the right thing. If anyone has done a transition of daycare before please share how things went and ease my pain.

Other than that I am trying to stay healthy and spending some great moments with Lily on the weekends. We often meet up with friends with wee ones, or we go for walks with the dog or even ride the sled when there is too much snow for the stroller.

Lily is making lots of funny faces and she loves to sing. It usually sounds like "ba ba ba ba ba ba ba". Tonight I had something on the TV and a concert was playing and she started to sing with them. She says the words: backpack, backpack (from Dora), and she says GO, and a few other choice words are: mama, no, moo, ba, and she will growl like a tiger. She tries to ride the dog which Charlotte does not tolerate and everywhere she goes she needs her blanky (I am hoping she names it soon).

And as much as her pediatrician doesn't care about her walking backwards I DO. So I just have to mention that as of a couple weeks ago she has been having fun walking backwards. Gosh she is at such a fun stage and I am just so in love with her.

Pics to follow soon.

  1. Aacck! I hated putting Molly into daycare. I had an upset stomach for about 2 weeks. Molly ended up doing better with it than me. I've been at work for 2 days now, and Molly's fine. I cry a lot, and our time together is soooo limited. I hate this part of single motherhood. I'm sure Lily is just as fun and precious as Molly right now - walking backwards, playing with dolls, and feeding Mommy 'eat peeze'. Molly sings too - it's so sweet. Don't you wish we could stay at home with them, and not miss another minute?
